Make the most of your summer with NCS!

Wed, 02 Mar 2022

On Monday this week, representatives from the National Citizen Service presented their summer programme to year 11 students at assembly. The NCS programme offers young people a once in a lifetime opportunity to do something meaningful with their summer break. In just two weeks, students will mix with new people from different backgrounds, conquer big challenges, pick up some invaluable skills and get the confidence they need to live independently. They will even take part in a social action project they care about in their local community.

We were delighted to welcome back former student Zoe Broome who delivered the presentation. Zoe talked to year 11 students about the benefits the programme can bring such as improving confidence and communication skills. She will be back in school on Friday 11th March to collect students’ ‘expression of interest’ forms and to answer any questions may have about the sign-up process. Mrs Flynn, our Director of Careers also encouraged as many students as possible to take part over the long summer break. She said:

“This is a great opportunity for students to develop new skills and gain some independence in advance of starting sixth form or college next year.”
