Year 10 Students Gain Valuable Experience Through Virtual Interviews

Fri, 11 Apr 2025

This week, all Year 10 students took part in a virtual interview experience designed to help them prepare for future career opportunities. For many students, it was their first formal interview, and while some were understandably nervous at first, the experience quickly became a valuable learning opportunity.

The virtual interviews aimed to help students build confidence, develop their communication skills, and learn how to present themselves in a professional manner. From learning how to write a CV as part of their English lessons to dressing appropriately and speaking clearly, students were encouraged to treat the interview as they would a real-life job or university interview.

Staff were incredibly proud of how well the students rose to the challenge. Many showed real growth over the course of the experience, and feedback from interviewers highlighted how impressed they were with the maturity and enthusiasm shown by our Year 10s.

Mrs Flynn, Director of Careers said: “Participating in a virtual interview helps develop a variety of important skills that are useful both in an academic setting and in the professional world. Interviews can be intimidating, but practising in a safe, virtual environment allows students to build self-confidence. They learn how to stay calm under pressure, handle unexpected situations, and present themselves confidently to others.”

Opportunities like this are a vital part of our commitment to preparing students not just academically, but for life beyond school. We’d like to congratulate all of our students for their effort and commitment—and for making the most of this valuable opportunity.  A huge thank you also to all the employers and former students who kindly gave their support to interview the students.
