Inspirational visit to University College, Oxford

A group of 6.1 students from both Thomas Telford School and Madeley Academy enjoyed an inspiring visit to University College, Oxford last week to find out more about living and studying in an academic community.  The students enjoyed a tour of the college with current undergraduates, who they chatted to over lunch, finding out about their experiences of Oxford and learning out about the application and selection process.  In the afternoon, they took part in two academic taster sessions which encouraged them to think beyond their current A level subjects and gave them a taster of what learning at degree level might involve. 

Mrs Flynn and Mrs Rawlings from the Careers Department who organised the visit as part of the Oxbridge preparation programme were delighted to accompany students on the trip and will look forward to a follow-up trip to Cambridge next month.
