Finalist for the Wolverhampton Young Citizen of the Year Award

Fri, 17 Sep 2021

Dhavina Chadha in 6.2 has been recognised as one of 9 finalists for the Wolverhampton Young Citizen of the Year Award 2021, which is supported by the Rotary Club.  Dhavina was nominated by the NHS for her exceptional commitment and enthusiasm throughout the pandemic as a volunteer at West Park and New Cross hospitals.  The judges were particularly impressed by the kindness and care she showed to patients on the ward, by making beds, preparing drinks, keeping people company and even organising baking lessons!  Dhavina is one of a number of Thomas Telford students who have stepped up to become young NHS volunteers over the past year, supporting hospital staff and developing their skills and confidence working alongside people of all ages and backgrounds.

We are exceptionally proud of Dhavina and the commitment she has shown to the NHS and her community and it was fantastic to see her efforts recognised so publicly by the Right Worshipful Major of Wolverhampton, Councillor Greg Brackenridge at the ceremony for finalists held at the Civic Suite on Thursday 16th September.
