Thomas Telford First XI win the SSCFA Under 18 Cup

Tue, 15 Mar 2016

Shropshire Schools and Colleges Football Association opened its Cup Finals programme at the home of Telford United on Tuesday 15th March.

The Final saw North Shropshire College attempting to secure the trophy for the third consecutive time. Reigning national champions from TTS who are also in this year's ESFA U18 National Final fell behind after 30 minutes when Matt Perry was first to connect with a cross from the left. The quality of the football was outstanding from both teams and at half time NSC looked as though they might make it three titles on the run. The second half was a cracker with both teams still playing outstanding football but it was England International Zak Lilly who scored for TTS with a super strike to level the scores. Gradually TTS created more chances and on 60 minutes Declan Green was first to re-act in a packed penalty area to put TTS into the lead. Two minutes later Zak Lilly hit the crossbar. North Shropshire College put on three fresh substitutes in a bid to find the equaliser but TTS remained resolute in the defence and went on to win the trophy.

The trophy was presented to Dom Mees, TTS Captain by Howard Thorne of Shropshire Homes who sponsor the SSCFA U18 competition.
