Year 11 Visit to Oxford University

Mon, 22 Oct 2018

A group of Year 11 students visited University College, Oxford on 22nd October to take part in the taster day and to find out more about living and studying in an academic community. The students enjoyed a tour of the College, had lunch in the Great Hall and took part in some academic taster sessions on Psychology and Anthropology.

It was fantastic for the students to meet and chat to current undergraduates, including Lewis, a former Thomas Telford student who has just started his degree in  Biochemistry. The taster day helped to demonstrate the benefits of studying at a university like Oxford and encouraged students to consider choosing courses that they may not have heard of before, for example Archaeology and Anthropology, Earth Sciences or Materials Science.

We are grateful to Ms Eleanor Chamings-Manley, University College’s excellent Schools Liaison and Access Officer, for organising such an engaging and inspiring day.
