Redhill Primary Academy joins the Thomas Telford Multi Academy Trust.

Redhill Primary School and Thomas Telford Multi Academy Trust (TTMAT) are delighted to announce that the Department for Education have now formally approved Redhill becoming the first primary school to join TTMAT. TTMAT run by Thomas Telford School was established in September 2017 and during the previous academic year has consisted of three secondary Academy’s – Madeley, Walsall and Sandwell. This term Redhill Primary has converted to Academy status and become Redhill Primary Academy and will now enjoy the benefits of working together with the other TTMAT Schools.

Redhill Primary Academy Headteacher, Mrs Claire Lamb is delighted with the change and believes “the partnership will bring many benefits to the Redhill community, through collaboration and sharing of best practice with other strong like-minded schools and practitioners. The Academies within TTMAT have a proven track record of excellence and are at the forefront of educational developments nationally.” Mrs Lamb adds “the TTMAT ethos and vision aligns with the ethos and vision of our school and provides a structure within which affords us opportunities to pool our expertise and work with colleagues to strengthen teaching and learning.”

TTMAT Executive Advisor, Sir Kevin Satchwell who oversees the work of the trust is equally as pleased to welcome Redhill into the group and believes the benefits are enormous. Thomas Telford School has been working with local primary schools for many years, especially supporting numeracy and literacy projects, but including primary schools in TTMAT provides a more formal commitment to supporting young people of this age in the area. Sir Kevin comments that “due to the close proximity of the schools within the MAT, Redhill students are able to access many of the facilities at Thomas Telford School and the other Academies. Students from Redhill have already seen the benefits and have started the term with a swimming programme delivered at the swimming pool on the Thomas Telford School site. Additional English, Maths and Cooking masterclasses start shortly and Redhill students will also be working with Thomas Telford School Sixth Form students who will be delivering a range of sporting activities.” He adds, “It is our intention to welcome further primary schools into the trust in the coming months and any local heads that might be interested are welcome to contact us.”
