THIS YEAR, THEY HAVE SPONSORED ONE OF OUR BUDDING YOUNG FEMALE ENGINEERS THROUGH HER UNIVERSITY DEGREE. Debating teams take part in local and regional competitions and many students take part in the Duke of Edinburgh AwardScheme. This is open to students from Year 10 and currently there are over one hundred students taking part at Bronze,Silver or Gold level. The Awards objective is to develop young peoples personal skills and to broaden their range ofexperiences. There are four sections which involve learning a new skill; undertaking a service to others, for example, charitywork; participating in physical recreation and undertaking a number of expeditions.11'
