The national exhibition center (NEC), the largest exhibition centre in the United Kingdom. It is owned by the Birmingham City council. Seventy percent of shows held here are trade fairs and the remainder, public exhibitions. The NEC arena is really well known for its blockbusting concerts. The arena receives about a million visitors a year with 12,300 seats. It was opened in the 1960's by the Queen. It has given about 68 concerts from Sir Cliff Richard and has seen the faces of Tina Turner, Diana Ross and Elton John more than a dozen times each. The likes of Kylie Monogue, U2, Blue, Pavarotti and Justin Timberlake have also been here a couple of times.
The world figure skating and the world Gymnastics championships have also been held here thanks to the first class facilities that the NEC has. The NEC arena is also host to the Horse of the year show.
Cannon Hill Park is one of the premier parks in the city and has been awarded Green flag status. With beautiful flower beds, lakes, pools and wonderful collection of trees.
