Sports at Thomas Telford School
Fitness Centre
Opened in 2007, the State‑of‑the‑Art Fitness Centre at Thomas Telford School provides a modern training environment equipped with high‑quality machinery.
We are also incredibly excited to announce that the entire Fitness Centre underwent a full refurbishment, complete with brand‑new Technogym equipment, ensuring staff and students enjoy the very best training experience available.
The inclusion of Technogym’s unique Wellness System allows every user to track, monitor, and review their fitness progression, offering valuable insights into the effectiveness of their training.
This intelligent system also guides users through correct equipment use, enabling our Director of Fitness to design personalised programmes tailored to individual goals.
The Fitness Centre welcomes students from Year 7 through to Sixth Form, as well as staff members. KS3 and KS4 students enjoy a broad range of sessions, from circuit training and high‑intensity interval workouts to weight‑training. One of the most popular additions has been the instructor‑led Spin classes, which deliver an energetic and challenging cardio session for both students and staff.
To support Sixth Form wellbeing and independence, the centre is open exclusively to them on Wednesdays from 1.00–3.20pm, with an additional women’s‑only hour from 11.40am–12.40pm. Sixth Form students may also access the facilities during their Independent Learning Centre (ILC) time — an option that has become extremely popular among those wishing to incorporate fitness into their daily routine.
