Beyond the Classroom
Information for Parents & Carers
We offer a variety of services to help parents/carers engage with their child’s careers advice, guidance and support. Please get in touch if you wish to discuss how we can support your child together.
Careers Guidance Meetings
Your child has open access to the Careers Team at School, either on an ad hoc basis or planned meetings with a named careers advisor. If you wish to meet with a member of the Careers Team, you are welcome to make an appointment or pop in to the department.
Information Evenings
Information evenings on GCSE choices, sixth form admissions and student finance etc invariably prompt many questions and the Careers Team are always happy to address any questions or concerns that parents and students may have. Please make an appointment to speak with one of the team.
Work Experience
Work placements are invaluable in helping our students to develop their understanding of the world of work, make more informed career choices and raise their awareness of the employability skills they need to build successful careers. It also helps our students to grow in confidence and maturity.
Arranging work experience placements can be daunting for students and although the Careers Team are always on hand to assist, the vast network of contacts that friends and family have cannot be underestimated, and we would urge you to help your child exploit these networks and gain as much experience as they can in the world of work.
Students in Year 10 will complete their work experience during w/c 6th July 2026 and 6.1 students have the flexibility to complete a variety of in-person or virtual placements w/c 6th and 13th July 2026. Once confirmed, students should upload the details of their work experience placement to their Unifrog account. Details of how to do this are available on the right hand side of this page and in the on-line curriculum.
TTS Careers Fair
The Careers Team hosts an annual Careers Fair attended by over 45 universities, local and regional employers and training providers. This is a fantastic opportunity to network with a range of providers across all occupational sectors and we look forward to welcoming you to this event with your child. This year’s fair is taking place on Wednesday 25th February 2026. The event is aimed in particular at students in year 10 and above.
