Thomas Telford School
Welcome from the Headmaster
Since 2001, Thomas Telford School has built a reputation for outstanding GCSE results, making it one of the top performing comprehensive schools in the country.
In 2025, 92% of our Year 11 students completed Key Stage 4 with five or more GCSE’s graded 9 – 4, including Mathematics and English.
It is, therefore, not surprising that many people ask why Thomas Telford School performs so well. Of course, there are many reasons but the cornerstone of our success must be attributed to the established values and good order within the School, where bullying is not tolerated and the very high level of parental participation is invaluable in supporting our students. We are very proud of our school where we have created an atmosphere for all students to feel comfortable, enabling them to succeed and reach their potential.
We call this, ‘Quality through Cooperation’, where we focus on respect, kindness and ambition.
Everyone involved with the School understands Thomas Telford School’s high expectations and enjoys being part of a very successful team. The staff work very hard and gain much satisfaction from supporting students’ success.
It is extremely rewarding, when the self-esteem of our students is noticeably evident for all to see when visiting Thomas Telford School.
