Thomas Telford School

Thomas Telford, a City Technology College and currently the highest performing Comprehensive school in England, is the lead School for a consortium of 26 secondary schools across the West Midlands.

The Consortium consists of a diverse range of schools including a City Academy, LEA maintained, Foundation schools and an Independent College.

The majority of West Midlands Consortium Schools are Specialist Schools including; Technology, Performing Arts, Business & Enterprise, Science and Sports Colleges.

The consortium has been successfully operating School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) PGCE Courses since 1993 and has subject routes in Design & Technology, Information Communication Technology and Physical Education.

Total numbers on the PGCE programme are 49.

The West Midlands Consortium became a Designated Recommending Body during 2002 and has a total of twenty-two Secondary places on the Graduate Teacher Programme across the Teacher Training Agency’s allocation categories.

The West Midlands Consortium aims to train able teachers who demonstrate high levels of enthusiasm and commitment.
