What is Biochemistry?

This week, it was fantastic to welcome back former student Lewis W who is currently studying for a degree in Biochemistry at University College, Oxford. Lewis was keen to help 6.1 A level Chemistry and Biology students understand what biochemistry is all about and was also able to share his experiences of living and studying in a highly academic community like Oxford.

He gave a really informative presentation about Biochemistry which is a branch of science that explores the chemical processes within and related to living organisms and tried to inspire the students to consider the range of careers related to the field which can include forensics, toxicology and pharmacology.

It is always great to welcome former students back to Thomas Telford and we were delighted to hear how much Lewis is enjoying his time at Oxford.
