6.1 visit to Cambridge University

Thu, 17 Oct 2019

A small group of 6.1 students enjoyed the unique experience of visiting and staying at St John's College, Cambridge last week. The visit was part of our careers programme to encourage the most able students to apply for top universities and was designed to give students a taster of university life. They enjoyed academic taster sessions, a guided visit to Fitzwilliam museum and a trip to a student production of 'Pygmalion'.

The highlight of the trip was meeting former Thomas Telford students Megan, Lydia and Luke who are all currently studying at Cambridge. They spoke very positively about their experiences at St John's and guided the students on a tour around the College to help them feel at home.

Mrs Flynn who accompanied the students said:

'The students now have a much better understanding of what Cambridge can offer them and what they need to do over the next 12 months to ensure they can prepare a competitive application. I am delighted they seem so inspired by what they have seen and heard!'

Well done to all the students who took part in the visit and a big thank you to Megan, Lydia and Luke for giving up their time.
