‘Taster visit’ to Chester University

Fri, 29 Mar 2019

A group of 6.1 students spent 3 days at Chester University this week, staying in student accommodation and taking part in a series of workshops to help them prepare for applying for university later this year. Students learnt about how to research universities and courses, how to write an effective personal statement and how student finance works. They also enjoyed meeting academic staff from a variety of Faculties and spent some of their free time on a river boat cruise on the beautiful River Dee.

Mrs Flynn who accompanied the students said: “It was a fantastic experience for the students to get a feel for what it is like to live and study at a campus university.”

The ‘taster’ experience also included the opportunity for students to talk to current undergraduates who addressed some of the myths about university life and helped to allay their apprehensions about moving away from home, meeting new people and making friends. Well done to all the students who took part!
