Guild of Mercers' Scholars

Congratulations to 6.2 students Luke Mockler and Tom Evans who were admitted to the Guild of Mercers’ Scholars last week as apprentices. They have been matched to Apprentice Masters, Joe Shaffery and Oliver Leason, who are ex-students of Thomas Telford School currently working in industry, who can offer a wealth of advice and guidance to the students as they progress through university.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, Luke and Tom have the opportunity to become Freemen of the City Of London and full members of the Guild. This membership will be invaluable to them as they progress through their careers, providing networking opportunities and access to educational activities and events. The ceremony last week took place at the magnificent Guildhall in the City of London and was attended by Luke and Tom’s fathers and Mrs Flynn, from the Careers Department.
