Nursing and Midwifery Careers Visit to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital

Mon, 30 Apr 2018

6.1 students who are interested in training to become nurses or midwives enjoyed a fantastic visit to the Staffordshire University campus based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital to meet staff and current students.  As well as hearing from course tutors about the differences between Adult, Children and Mental Health Nursing, students had the opportunity to get hands-on in the clinical skills labs, working on life-size dolls which can simulate conditions such as cardiac arrest.

Students gained a realistic view of what life is like as a student nurse or midwife and understand the academic and work experience entry requirements for the courses.  The staff at Staffordshire University even provided a short Study Skills workshop for the students so they could understand the kind of academic writing they would need to complete alongside their practical skills.

A big thank you to Staffordshire University for providing such a comprehensive taster day for students!
