 School Clothing List

Girls - Year 7 - 11

SCHOOL UNIFORM PE AND DANCE KIT
  • Official maroon fitted blazer with embroidered School badge
  • Official grey kilt style skirt with tab (Fyfe & Allan Style No 116) (length must be below the knee to a maximum of mid-calf) or
  • Official grey trousers (choice of styles - Trutex JWT 430 or Trutex JWT 440) (No variation of the above skirt or trouser style is acceptable.)
  • White blouse
  • School tie with school crest
  • Plain grey knee high socks or flesh coloured tights; grey ankle socks can be worn during the Summer term
  • Black plain shoes of a sensible design with heels no higher than 5 cms. (Heels must not be stiletto or kitten type)& (Boots or shoes with deep tread soles are not allowed)
  • Suitable carrying bag (large enough to carry two A4 folders)

    Students are not allowed to wear Denim Jackets or Baseball Caps.

  • School Tracksuit (available from the School)
  • Black Swim Suit (Speedo Racer back – available from Buxton and Bonnett)
  • Swimming Cap available from Swimming Pool Manager £3 (optional)
  • Maroon sweatshirt with logo
  • Maroon games skirt
  • Maroon games knickers
  • Maroon games shorts (Style - Sportswear International - all students will need to wear this new style by Sept 2008)
  • Maroon games socks (for Hockey and Football)
  • Maroon sports shirt (Trutex Polo shirt) Non marking soled shoes

  • Suitable carrying bag

    We recommend that for hockey, students should use shin pads and a mouthguard to comply with Health and Safety advice. These are available from most sports shops.

    Students studying Dance in Key Stage 4 will require black jazz/sweat pants and either a black leotard and tights or a black cat suit for the performance elements of the course

All items of clothing must be clearly marked with the student’s name. Name labels can be made to order from Buxton and Bonnett.


Boys - Year 7 - 11

Sixth Form Girls

All items marked with an asterisk* are stocked by the School’s official outfitter.

NB. Physical Education activities in the Sixth Form are optional and take place on Wednesday afternoon. Only the students involved in these activities should purchase the PE clothing.

Girls in the Sixth Form are to wear smart office dress eg.  jacket, blouse, skirt and sensible shoes.  Smart trousers or culottes are acceptable.

Students are not allowed to wear Denim Jackets or Baseball Caps.

Performing Arts in the Sixth Form

Students following courses in Performing Arts or Performance Studies in the Sixth Form will need appropriate clothing for the practical aspects of the course(s).

For Dance work students will require the following:

Dance clothing can be purchased from ‘Maggies’ of Dawley or ‘Charades’ in Penn.


For Drama work students may wear the clothing above or alternatively wear the School Tracksuit that can be purchased from School.

Performing Arts Dress Code

Students should note that Thomas Telford School has a formal dress code. Sixth Form students are expected to dress for the office at all times. However, students participating in practical work wear clothing appropriate for the activity being undertaken as identified above in the practical areas.
