Please read through the attached guidance sheet of forthcoming practice tests in English, Maths and Science with your child to ensure they are fully prepared. 

Session 3 Arrangements (document)
Session 3 activities will commence on Monday 7 January.   Please read through with your child the attached details of the Session 3 Programme.

Chewing Gum and Extreme Hairstyles
While we get excellent cooperation from the majority of our students, regretfully, a minority try to break the rules of the School regarding chewing gum and displaying extreme hairstyles.  Extreme hairstyles (brightly coloured hair dyes, totally shaved or decorated scalps, eyebrow shavings etc) are unacceptable for School.  In cases where students breach these rules, parents will be asked to come to School to collect them.

Student Portfolio
A reminder to read through your child’s Portfolio and look at their books every time they receive a Module Report.  This is the best way for you to find out about your child’s progress and standard of work and should be done before signing the Module Report.

Advisory Council Prize Draw (document)
A list of the winners of the Christmas Raffle Draw is attached and would like to thank you and the students for supporting this event.  Approximately £2,800 was raised and this will go towards supporting activities and learning for the students.  The Advisory Council and the Social Development Committee do a wonderful job in supporting the School.  Thank you to those parents who give so much of their time to help the School. 

Burn’s Night (document)
On Tuesday 22 January 2008, the Advisory Council and the Hospitality and Catering Students are organising a Burn’s Night Supper.  The cost of this is £19 and, if you would like to book tickets, please complete and return the tear off slip by Monday 14 January 2008. 

Road Safety Group (link to web page)
Members of the Road Safety Group continue to work to secure improvements to the students’ safety around the school entrance and exit and have provided this information for your consideration.

School Production
This year, the School Production will be ‘Fame – The Musical’.  Performances will be on Sunday 16 through to Wednesday 19 March and some of the major roles are being shared so that the students will not be too tired.

Bad Weather Arrangements
In the unlikely event that the weather is so severe that we have to close the School there will be an announcement made to this effect on Beacon Radio and Radio Shropshire.  If there is really heavy snow in the new year, please  listen to the Radio and if no announcement is made then School will be open as usual.
